Slay the Spire 2: August Developer Update and Roadmap
Mega Crit is slowing down its update schedule for Slay the Spire 2 to focus on major content, including new characters and an alternative Act 2.

Mega Crit, the developer of Slay the Spire 2, has shared important updates regarding the game's future in its August "Neowsletter." The team announced that they will not release a patch on August 27th due to their annual break at the end of the month, while also announcing a strategic shift in the development process. The bi-weekly beta updates that have been released so far are now giving way to a development process focused on larger, more comprehensive content.
What Has Changed on the Roadmap?
So far, many features such as Steam Workshop support, the foundations of the Bestiary, achievement and scoring systems, and new localization options have been added to the game. However, the development team has decided to slow down the update pace for a while to dedicate time to the major content that players are most looking forward to, such as new characters and an alternative Act 2. This means that updates will now arrive at less frequent intervals.

Developer Casey also addressed player questions regarding Ascension difficulty levels and card enchantments. It was stated that Ascension level 10 would remain one of the game's highest difficulty levels in its current state, as a progression stretching to 20 levels like in the first game might feel like an unnecessary "chore" for players due to the higher number of characters. Furthermore, regarding card enchantments, the "stacking" feature that players were curious about is not currently in the plans, aiming to keep players focused on deck-building and to prevent card-based power imbalances.
The Slay the Spire 2 team noted that they are currently continuing to work on major content and are keeping the details under wraps for now to avoid spoilers. The game, which will return with bigger innovations in the coming months, has set its course to maintain strategic and deep gameplay.
