Arc Raiders, developed by Embark Studios, has made a major comeback with its recently released 2.0 version and Frozen Trail update. The game, which had been struggling with low player numbers for quite some time, reached a seven-month peak on Steam thanks to the impact of new content and a free-to-play weekend offer.

What Does the Update Include?

Released simultaneously for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 8, the Frozen Trail update adds significant new features to the game. At the heart of the update is the snowy mountain region, Pendola Pass, which offers players new areas to explore. Furthermore, new Arc threats such as the Bully, Skulker, and Hydra are shaking up combat dynamics, while tools like a "Spider-Man" style grappling system and the Tether Launcher, which pins enemies to objects, have added variety to the gameplay.

Community Reactions

The number of concurrent players, which had dropped to the 10,000 level last September, surpassed the 166,000 mark following the update. These changes, which have been well-received by the community, have renewed hopes for the game's future. Users on platforms like Reddit have noted that the new mechanics added to the game's sandbox structure and the depth of the Pendola Pass region have made the title attractive once again.
