Ice Caves and New Glacial Content Coming to Minecraft
Announced at the Minecraft LIVE event, the new content update adds ice-themed biomes, new enemy types, and versatile ice crystals to the underworld.

Mojang unveiled the Ice Caves content, coming in the game's next update, during the Minecraft LIVE event. Designed as a rare underground extension of cold biomes, these caves aim to offer players new mechanics along with visual variety.
What's in the Ice Caves?
The newly added Ice Caves stand out with glowing ice crystals that can be placed both horizontally and vertically and also function as a light source. Mojang warns players that despite their aesthetic appearance, these areas are fraught with danger.
New Enemy: Frozen Zombie
One of the most notable additions in the update is the new enemy type, the Frozen Zombie. These zombies apply a freezing effect with their melee attacks and can also throw ice balls that damage players and create a knockback effect. Standard zombies can transform into frozen zombies upon contact with powder snow.
Uses for Ice Balls
Ice balls dropped by Frozen Zombies can be used directly as weapons and also play a critical role in potion brewing. Players can use ice balls to craft new potions capable of freezing enemies. This new mechanic is expected to open the door to different strategies, particularly for advanced mob farm systems.
