Minecraft 26.4 Snapshot 4 Is Live: Brittle Ice and Music Playlists
With the Minecraft 26.4 Snapshot 4 update, the breakable Brittle Ice block is added to the game, and support for music playlists comes to the Jukebox system.
About Minecraft
Minecraft 26.4 Snapshot 4 brings a new block type, Brittle Ice, and a groundbreaking playlist feature to the Jukebox system.
New Features: Brittle Ice and Jukebox Playlists
You can now create automatic playlists with your music discs by placing a chest (Chest, Trapped Chest, or copper chest variants) directly above a Jukebox. The Jukebox will play the discs in the chest in sequence and loop them, skipping empty slots or non-music items.
Brittle Ice, which spawns naturally in Ice Caves, is a new block that cracks and breaks when players or mobs stand on it. Obtainable with the Silk Touch enchantment, this block can also be created by flowing water onto a Blue Ice block. The Frostbite mob, however, can walk on this ice without it breaking.
Balance and Gameplay Changes
- Zombies, Drowned, and Husks are now immune to freezing effects and damage.
- Drowned mobs now revert to their Zombie form before transforming into a Frostbite when inside Powder Snow.
- Interior faces of adjacent ice blocks (Ice, Packed Ice, Blue Ice, Frosted Ice) are no longer rendered.
- Frosted Ice now emits a vibration signal when its state changes.
- New custom sound effects have been added for ice blocks.
Technical Changes
With this update, the data pack version is now 124.0 and the resource pack version is 100.1. Fluid states have been reorganized, with flowing_water and flowing_lava types removed. Additionally, flexibility has been increased by making configuration fields for the sound variations of many mobs optional.
