Apex Legends: Ranked System Bug and Sanctions Announced
The Apex Legends development team has resolved a ranked matchmaking bug that primarily affected the PlayStation 5 platform and has issued sanctions against accounts that exploited the issue.

The Apex Legends Anti-Cheat team recently announced that they have closed a loophole, primarily affecting PlayStation 5, which allowed players to enter Ranked matches at the Rookie IV level regardless of their actual rank.
Ranked Bug Fixes
The aforementioned bug caused players to gain unfair advantages in Ranked matches. The primary issues addressed were:
- Failure to deduct Ranked entry costs.
- Incorrect application of kill bonuses specific to the Rookie level.
- End-of-match MMR values being recorded as zero.
- RP points earned continuing to be added to the player's actual ranked score.
Sanction Results
The team identified accounts that intentionally exploited the bug, resulting in a total of 905 account bans. Penalties were categorized based on the amount of unfair RP gained:
- 731 accounts that gained up to 4,999 unfair RP were suspended for 120 days.
- 107 accounts that gained between 5,000 and 9,999 RP were suspended for 240 days.
- 67 accounts that gained 10,000 or more RP were suspended for 365 days.
The breakdown of sanctions by platform included 848 accounts on PlayStation, 44 on Xbox, 12 on PC, and 2 on Nintendo Switch. A total of 15,112,554 illegitimate RP points were removed from the system. The development team noted that they are reviewing accounts that may have encountered the bug accidentally, and no sanctions have been applied to players who did not engage in intentional exploitation.
