GTA 6 Map: How Does It Compare to RDR2 and GTA 5?
Rockstar Games has shared significant data regarding the map size of its highly anticipated new game, GTA 6; the world of Leonida offers a massive scale compared to previous titles.

Rockstar Games has clarified map details regarding the long-awaited GTA 6. According to information shared by the studio, the map of the new game reaches an incredibly ambitious size when compared to the company's past major projects. Official statements indicate that the game world of GTA 6 boasts a surface area three times larger than the playable space in Red Dead Redemption 2. Furthermore, the game offers twice the area when compared to its predecessor, GTA 5.
Leonida and Interior Details
Beyond the map's width, it is noted that Vice City and its surrounding suburbs are approximately 11 times larger than Los Santos and its surroundings in GTA 5. However, the only innovation in GTA 6 is not just the physical vastness of the exterior world. Rockstar Games is making the game world more layered by focusing on hundreds of different interiors that players can explore. The fact that a limited number of locations could be entered in GTA 5 and the presence of loading screens were a restriction; GTA 6 promises a much wider range of interaction in this regard.
Rob Nelson from Rockstar Games described this process in an interview with IGN as a continuation of the experience they gained with Red Dead Redemption 2. Nelson stated that they have taken the technology they used to make the world a living, breathing place in RDR2 even further in GTA 6. The developer team's main focus has been ensuring that players get distracted while going from one place to another, lose themselves in the surrounding details, and feel that they are in a living world. In short, Rockstar aims to offer players the deepest, densest, and most complex open-world experience they have ever designed. The vast scope that the state of Leonida will offer seems set to define new standards for the series upon the game's release.
