A new era begins for the Rust community. The latest update, titled "Breach and Clear," has arrived with radical changes that will impact the game's overall balance. Accessing locked rooms in monuments has now become a bit more challenging, and large groups will face new responsibilities regarding resource management.
The Era of Monument Blockers Begins
Monuments featuring red keycard rooms are now protected by new obstacles we call "Monument Blockers." These obstacles aim to make accessing loot rooms significantly harder. While destroying these blocks requires substantial damage, they do not respawn once destroyed. Overcoming these obstacles in the early stages of the game will create a strategic competitive environment against raiders. If left untouched for 24 hours, these obstacles will begin to decay on their own.
Upkeep Tax for Large Groups
Rust developers have implemented a solution to prevent large groups from overcoming game difficulty mechanics through sheer numerical superiority. An "upkeep tax" will now be applied via the Tool Cupboard (TC) based on the number of players registered to or with access to the base. There is no tax for the first four players, but the cost increases incrementally for every player thereafter. This system aims to balance the game by increasing the resource consumption of large groups. You can monitor the current tax rate through the TC panel.
Other Innovations
It is now possible to find High-Quality Metal (HQM) nodes in various parts of the map; your chances may be slightly higher in the Jungle region. Drone marketplaces are now connected to the Power Plant system. Drone deliveries can only be made while the system is operational, which increases the importance of the electrical grid. Finally, thanks to the "Medical Honey Bandage" added to Workbench Level 1, you can convert your honey stocks into an effective healing tool, reducing your reliance on medkits.
