Rust introduces livestock to the game with the Livestock update. You can now capture cows and sheep found in the wild to raise them on your farm, improve their genetics, and obtain new resources from them.

What Has Changed?

The cows and sheep added to the game provide various resources such as milk, wool, fertilizer, meat, bone, and leather. Like plants, animals have genetic traits, allowing you to breed them for the best yields. You can secure your farm with the newly added fence and gate systems.

Economy and Resources

  • Sales and Trading: You can sell adult animals and the wool you collect from sheep to new NPC traders at barns. You can receive three different offers based on gene quality or the amount of wool provided and select the one you prefer.
  • Milk and Cream: Milk obtained from cows can be consumed or turned into cream and skim milk by leaving it in a refrigerator for 4 hours. Milk increases the duration of tea effects, while cream increases their potency.
  • Biofuel Generator: This new system, which converts organic waste into low-grade fuel, allows you to use raw or spoiled meat. The device requires regular manual stirring.

New Creatures and Performance

New small creatures such as frogs, rabbits, squirrels, sea turtles, crabs, and jellyfish have been added around the island. Thanks to improvements to the navigation system, NPC entry into player structures has been optimized, resulting in a performance boost. To balance server load, NPC operations are now spread across frames, aiming to prevent FPS drops.
