With its new "Spring Clean" update, Facepunch is introducing a variety of innovations to Rust that make the survival experience more fluid and strategic. This update provides significant content for both players looking to bolster their base defenses and engineers who spend their time working on electrical systems.

New Crafting Options and Energy Solutions

You can now make your vertical passage points much more secure with the Armoured Ladder Hatch, which can be unlocked at the Tier 3 level. Much more durable than its metal counterpart, this new hatch can be crafted in both square and triangular forms. Another innovation, the Water Wheel, brings a fresh approach to energy production. This system, which generates passive electricity from river currents or ocean waves, also allows players to jump inside and manually generate energy; you can even force-cuff other players into the wheel to produce power for yourself.

Tech Tree and Quality of Life Changes

One of the most notable changes has been made to the Tech Tree system. Instead of unlocking items one by one, you now have the ability to click on your target technology node to unlock the entire path in one go. This interface improvement has been made much more convenient with enhanced animations and sound effects. Additionally, the Chainsaw has been optimized to hit the 'X' marker every time while cutting down trees, turning wood gathering into a much faster process.

Plant Cultivation and Balancing Adjustments

We have news that will please players who engage in farming: the time plants remain "ripe" has been increased from 14 to 24 hours. This gives you more flexibility regarding the urgency of logging in to harvest your crops. Furthermore, a hitbox change implemented for shield usage offers a larger protective area when you are actively holding a shield, while transitioning to a smaller, balanced hitbox structure when you are not. Finally, colored buttons have been added to help you organize your electrical circuits, making it easier to manage your complex systems with buttons that match your cable colors.
